Our Philosophy:
The philosophy of our organization is based on the research that says reaching out to the “whole” child will help children develop skills and abilities necessary for a happy and successful life. Our direct work with our children is important – but working with the child’s entire family is equally important. This will ensure sustainable change and results, even after the child graduates from our programs. Further, working with our children and their families on a long-term basis will further prevent the likelihood of engagement in unhealthy and risky behaviors, as well as academic failure.
Based on our holistic philosophy, we cover 5 main areas:
1) Literacy Intervention for Children,
2) Early Childhood Education,
3) Health & Wellness Education,
4) Parent Involvement, and
5) College and Career Preparation
- The Ability to Read correlates with future life success – we cover academic areas for school age and youth, with a focus on literacy – one of the top predictors of academic and future life success is being able to read
- Early intervention and education prevents future failure – we provide early childhood education programs for children 0-5 and their parents
- A healthy child is a successful child – we help children acquire healthy habits and behaviors. Children that are healthy – both physically and mentally – have a greater likelihood of future life success.
- Successful children have involved and engaged parents – we work with and alongside parents to help them build skills to enhance their engagement and involvement in their child’s life
- Preparation for college increases likelihood of retention and graduation – we provide college preparation services for children beginning in the sixth grade
We see ourselves as bridging the “achievement gap” for our children by providing holistic and long-term programs.
