Early Childhood Education
“A parent is a child’s first teacher” is the philosophy of Reading and Beyond’s Early Childhood Education program. Reading and Beyond uses a nationally certified program for the Early Childhood Education Program. This program is a nationally-recognized, research-based program, deemed an
effective program for children aged zero to five years and their parents.
We know that the first five years of a child’s life is essential to their long tem development and achievement. This program was started to help ensure that young children, ages 0-5, develop properly and begin school prepared. In 2007, First Five of Fresno County granted the funds to expand this program. In response to parent requests , children in the program now receive home visits every other week instead of once per month.
This Early Childhood Education program includes home visits, group
meetings, and health screenings, with curriculum that focuses on educating
parents about their children’s development and helping ensure that children are “school-ready” by the time they begin kindergarten.
